Set your own pace...
No need to rush to take a bus !!!
RELAX... Pack a picnic, Let the kids take there time to prepare for an adventure of a lifetime or bring a tent and spend the night. Yep that's right no shuttle to hurry up and wait on just to get you to the river!
At Cartecay Water Shed you park on the River's Edge right at Cartecay Water Shed Put In. The place where others drive there shuttle's to drop you in the street. So don't be fooled by the other guys that set up shuttle rides to and from the river providing limited access to the river. With 30 acres and almost a quarter mile of river frontage there's room for everyone to enjoy their spot in paradise.
Novice and intermediate paddlers can hone their whitewater maneuvering skills on the Cartecay River meandering through hill country and residential areas near Ellijay. Winter and spring are the best time to check out these moderately technical rapids, characterized by Class II water conditions and highlighted by three sizeable rapids and small drops. The Cartecay’s natural progression from flatwater to Class III rapids, with plenty of play spots in between, makes it a great beginner river. The put-in is located at Cartecay Water Shed at the bridge on Lower Cartecay Road, and are managed by Christy the land Owner. Other options include putting in at Highway 52 and paddling the extra mile to Lower Cartecay Road or to the take out, on Stegall Mill Road, is just past the bridge downriver from Blackberry Falls, the Class II + grand finale slide
